The Breakfast Club
Produce Pete, one of America’s favorite grocers, was the featured speaker at the October 27, 2010 meeting of the Breakfast Club of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.
Brunch and a lively conversation about selecting and preparing nutritious, delicious food was the highlight of the event, Get Fresh! The program benefits the hospital’s educational outreach to local schools and community groups on combating childhood obesity.
Produce Pete can be seen on Saturday mornings on NBC’s “Weekend Today in New York,” where he has been a regular commentator for more than 18 years, demystifying the theory and practice of healthful cooking and enjoyable eating. “Since I was a little kid, when I made the rounds selling fruits and vegetables with my father door-to-door, I’ve had the good fortune of being exposed to fresh food that tastes good and is good for you,” he said. “Sharing what I know is my way of giving back for all the good things that have come my way in life.”
The Breakfast Club, which meets on an occasional basis, is an informal group of service-minded individuals who support the hospital and wish to learn more about ways they can be involved.
Committee members will organize events throughout the year that highlight programs at Englewood Hospital while bringing members of the community together to support their local hospital.
