Annual Motorcycle Run a Rousing Success!

Englewood, NJ (September 12, 2012) – A thundering roar of motorcycle engines were heard early on Sunday, September 9th, as participants descended upon local Bergen County restaurant, Andiamo, for a ride unlike any other. The Annual Andiamo Benefit Motorcycle Run, now in its 13th year, attracted more than 1,100 motorcycles for an exciting day of riding, food, music and friendship. Funds raised through the event benefit several local charities and organizations including Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.

“It is always thrilling to see so many motorcycle enthusiasts come out in support of the Andiamo Run,” said Don Dickstein, owner of Andiamo Restaurant. “We raised an impressive $120,000 which will be distributed to several local charities to help further their good work in our communities.”

Among those charities: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Special Olympics Torch Run, Police Unity Tour, Haworth Ambulance, Progressive Supranuclear Disorders (PSP), St. Therese School in Cresskill and Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.

The Andiamo Run is recognized for offering participants a safe, comfortable 70+ mile ride through scenic Bergen County including along the Palisades and across the George Washington Bridge. Integral to the ongoing success of this event is local law enforcement, including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, who secure safe access to roadways and provide escort during the Run to help ensure a pleasurable riding experience for all.

Motorcycle riders from throughout the Tri-State area and beyond register for the annual event. Don Dickstein organizes the Run each year with the help of his family and friends.

History
Countless hours of hard work make the Andiamo Run a favorite that has attracted thousands of participants since it began in 2000. Always eagerly awaited, the annual event raised funds for Lifeline to Tomorrow: Our Campaign for an Emergency Care Center at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, the NJ Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and other local worthy causes.

The huge success of the Andiamo Run can be summed up in one word: quality. Created and directed by riders for riders, it is known for a top-notch, safe experience on roadways closed to all other traffic.

“A beautiful ride, the company of good people and the satisfaction of riding to help others are all on the agenda for the run,” said Don Dickstein, lead organizer along with son Alan. “We are particularly proud of the exceptionally safe nature of the ride, which is made possible by the dozens of police officers who ensure the safety of riders and bystanders alike,” said Don, who is also is a trustee of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Foundation.
